Wow! What a busy few months. Sorry for not making regular updates. Let's get caught up and see where we are headed.
Report cards were handed out on Thursday. Grade 5's - Please return the signed portion and the envelope (to reuse) to me when you can.
We had the Knights of Columbus in to St Anne to run their annual free throw challenge at the end of January. Great representation by the grade 4's with Caleb, Chase, and Teagan winning their age divisions. They moved on to the regional championships where they proudly represented the school.
Mrs Mason came in to run a gifted program workshop with the grade 5's at the start of February. They were excited to see her again as many had her for a teacher in gr 2. The 5's were challenged to build a simple Rube Goldberg Machine.
Both grades have been busy trying to solve the mysterious packages we've been receiving in the mail. They have been coming up with some amazing connections and theories. Time will tell who is behind this espionage journey!
The grade 5's have almost wrapped up their Living Space project with the Canadian Space Agency and Let's Talk Science. They have been using Micro:bits to code a variety of tasks. They used them to record the temperature, humidity, and carbon dioxide levels of our portable 3x a day for a week. They took these recordings (measurement unit) and turned it into broken line graphs as part of their data management project. I like when we can mash some math together! We've uploaded our data into the project database and are now waiting to see what happens as we continue to follow David St Jacques on the ISS.
